Oxford Community Tennis Association
About OCTA
The Oxford Community Tennis Association (OCTA) was founded in 1998 as a non-profit organization dedicated to the improvement of tennis and tennis facilities in Oxford and Lafayette Couny, Mississippi. It has since expanded its coverage to include northeastern Mississippi, and is now one of the largest and most active tennis organizations in the state of Mississippi.
Membership in the OCTA is open to adults 18 years of age or older. Members and guests are welcome at all meetings. Meetings are held monthly and more frequently when necessary. Through emails, including electronic newsletters, the OCTA keeps its members informed on local, regional, state, and national events applicable to its members. Emails include postings on area leagues and tournaments, Oxford and Lafayette High School tennis, University of Mississippi tennis teams, and individuals and teams with tennis accomplishments of note.
The OCTA sponsors and encourages local, Mississippi Tennis Association, and U.S. Tennis Association leagues and tournaments and assists the state and national organizations in achieving many of their goals. We also conduct our own tournaments, ladder leagues, Monday Night Social Tennis, and other activities for our playing members. Our members work closely with city and county officials to seek improvements in area courts and related facilities. The OCTA also contributes monetarily to the development and improvement of local courts. |
